The reason is simple: the old sources left us no runic calendar. Modern authors took the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark and spread them across the year — but started counting from different dates.

Why are the answers different?

Because none of these calendars comes from the old runic sources. The Elder Futhark is a row of 24 signs. Its order was the order of writing: Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz… Not January, February, March.

The old rune poems do not say either that a certain rune belongs to people born on certain days. So when a modern table assigns you a «birth rune», it does one beautiful but modern thing: it lays the order of the runes over the calendar. Different starting points — different results.

And that is exactly what the calculator above shows.

So which one is mine?

You can pick the system that feels closer to you. You can read all three runes and see which one answers more strongly. Or you can not tie a personal rune to your birthday at all.

Because perhaps it is more interesting not to get your rune from a formula. But to meet it.
