The meaning
Thurisaz is the thorn on the branch and the hammer in the fist. It is force: sharp, sudden, ready. It shows up around conflict, hard change, and the moment a consequence finally lands. A thorn does not chase anyone. It simply makes the careless hand think twice. Real strength does not need to strike first. But it does need an edge, or the world will lean on you until there is nothing left. Thurisaz asks you to know your own edge and to aim it, not just swing it.
Where it comes from
Thurisaz is named for the thurs, the giants of northern myth, the old, rough powers that stood against the gods. Yet the same rune belongs to Thor and the hammer he raised against them. One shape holds both the threat and the thing that answers it. That is no accident. The North knew that force is neither good nor evil on its own. Everything depends on the hand that holds it and where it is aimed. A thorn guards the rose and it draws blood, and it is the same thorn.
